Winter might not have gone just yet, but as the evenings start to get longer, we’re all itching to get out and start living again. Find out the best deals from the country’s favourite restaurants
OK, so you've got over the whole January abstinence thing and now you want to start having a bit of fun again. But with the economic downturn still weighing down on us, you won’t want to break the bank.
You can often trim some expense off your night out by timing it right. Keep an eye out for happy hours or midweek specials. You can also dramatically reduce the cost of your evening by - gulp - cutting down on the booze altogether.

The good news is that restaurants and other leisure venues are also worried about the crunch, and are pulling out some great deals to get bums on seats. It normally doesnt take long for eager discount-seekers to find new offers, and you should check sites such as Moneysavingexpert.com regularly for the latest deals.
Whats on the menu?
I know we would say this, but one of the best offers available right now is the Orange Wednesdays promotion, in conjunction with PizzaExpress.
If youre taking advantage of Oranges two-for-one cinema tickets every Wednesday, you can now also get a two-for-one pizza deal plus free garlic bread or dough balls by downloading a voucher from Orange and taking it to a branch of PizzaExpress with your Orange Wednesdays text ticket.
Of course, thats not the only offer available at PizzaExpress. The chain is offering a starter and main course from a selected menu, plus a bottle of beer or glass of wine (or soft drink), for £10.
The offer is valid on any weekday until next Friday (13 February), and requires a voucher that can be printed off from the companys offers website.
If thats not enough bargain pizza for you, The Times newspaper will be carrying a voucher on Saturday (7 February) offering two for one on main courses at PizzaExpress. The deal will be available until 28 February (excluding Valentine's Day!).
